• “Since I am on the road teaching most of the year finding time to train is difficult. I found the opportunity to train with Shane Kerwin of PSS. Covert Protective Pistol-Essentials is a 2-day class that covers using the pistol at different distances, ready positions, movement, mindset, marksmanship fundamentals, post-fight procedures, and much more. I found the class to be well structured in the progression of concepts that built upon each other. Shane is an excellent communicator and a patient insightful coach. He brings a wealth and diversity of experience from his extensive military background, but also has trained with a wide range of private sector instructors including me. Specialization often leads to a narrow perspective that makes broad generalizations, so I prefer teachers who have mastered multiple fields of expertise, and Shane is a great example. I found him to be humble, confident, and engaging with his clients. His wife, Calley, handles the administrative side of the house in a timely and informative manner. She does all the media and marketing which is eye-catching and engaging. I find that the true character of a teacher is revealed in the quiet moments of class. During lunch, Shane generously took a client’s son for a one-on-one lesson in shooting. The young shooter was happy to get some shooting time and attention. I think this is a great lesson in leadership. Taking time to teach the young generation is an essential part of our job as teachers, mentors, and leaders. Well done! It was great to be a student, and get some time to work on my craft. I have used a couple of the drills in my practice, and in my class (properly attributed). It is a great class led by an outstanding teacher, and you should take a class from Shane if get a chance!”
